Alden Jackson

Alden Jackson (born July 22, 1810 in Jefferson , Maine , † July 11, 1877 in Waldoboro , Maine) was an American businessman and politician who was Secretary of State of Maine from 1854 to 1855 and 1857 .

Life

Alden Jackson was born in Jefferson. After his training he was early active as a member of the Whig Party in public office and held several responsible positions until he was from 1850 to 1853 under John G. Sawyer Deputy Secretary of State. He was Secretary of State of Maine from 1854 to 1855 and again in 1857.

He was Secretary of the Electoral College of Maine in 1856 and 1872 . Jackson served on the Waldoboro Superintending Shool Committee and Board of Assessors and was also a businessman.

Alden Jackson married Caroline Clark. He died on July 11, 1877 in Waldoboro. His grave is in the Village Cemetery in Waldoboro.
