The Bielefelder SK is a chess club from Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia . The club played in the Bundesliga for three years

history

The association was founded in 1883. In 1958, the Bielefelder SK reached the finals of the German team championship , where they finished fourth and last. In 1990 the chess club Rochade Bielefeld joined the Bielefelder SK. SV Rochade already played in the Bundesliga in the 1988/89 season, but missed relegation. In 1990 the direct resurgence succeeded. The right to play as well as a large part of the top players played for the Bielefelder SK from then on. In the 1990/91 season , the Bielefelder SK was able to keep the class safely in eighth place. A year later , the Bielefeld team was actually thirteenth, but they benefited from the withdrawal of their competitors FTG Frankfurt and were allowed to play another season in the Bundesliga. As the bottom of the table, the Bielefeld SK rose without a chance in 1993 , but reached the finals of the German team cup for the only time in the same season.

On a start in the second Bundesliga 1993/94, the Bielefeld renounced and pulled their team back directly to the Oberliga NRW. In the 2019/20 season, Bielefelder SK has three teams, the first of which plays in NRW class 1.
