Beer fight is the title of a film by Herbert Achternbusch from 1977 .

Achternbusch is a producer and writes and directs. He plays "Herbert" himself, who in turn plays a policeman with a stolen uniform who is probably not really one.

At the Munich Oktoberfest (shot in 1976 ), he wandered around unsafe at first, but soon felt the respect that the uniform aroused and began to get drunk and molested Oktoberfest visitors in a beer tent (in Schottenhamel ) by stealing their pretzels and from their beer mugs drinking.

Meanwhile, his wife (played by Annamirl Bierbichler ) is looking for him and has surreal conversations with strange-looking people. At the end of the film, “Herbert” shoots himself with his gun out of desperation over his life.

The film is particularly remarkable because the countless real drunk, swaying visitors to the Oktoberfest become involuntary actors in Achternbusch's film: their anger about the stolen pretzels is not played and is still fueled by the alcohol level, sometimes beer tent guests with Achternbusch try his uniform anyway more than looks deranged to start a fight.

Others just stare at him in disbelief or pat him on the shoulder like a friend. Documented reality and the plot of the film constantly change in strange ways. In the end, the stolen cop and his colleague track down the wrong cop.

The film is considered to be one of Achternbusch's most entertaining films.

Release date: March 4, 1977.
