The Big 12 Conference annually organizes a men's league ( regular season ) in the field of college tennis . This is followed by the Big 12 Tennis Championships .

mode

All universities in the Big 12 Conference that have a men's team take part in the league. Every duel between two teams is played once per season. The number of points a team has at the end of the season is equivalent to their victory rate, i.e. with a victory rate of 100% the score is 1,000.

history

The Big 12 Conference was created in 1994 through the merger of the Big Eight Conference with four universities of the Southwest Conference . The first tennis league followed three years later. Ten of the Conference’s 12 universities participated. The Iowa State University , who had signed off their men's team in 1994, and the Kansas State University waived participation.

The University of Texas at Austin won the first three editions in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and lost only one game in the regular season during this period. The following year, Baylor University won for the first time, winning eight times in a row from 2002. With 13 titles (as of 2016) she is also the record champion. In these statistics, Texas follows in second place with seven wins.

After the 2012 season, Texas A&M University left the league for the Southeastern Conference and was replaced by Texas Christian University .

Previous events

Since the league first played in 1997, four different teams have won the title. So far four times there has been the case that this went to several teams at the same time due to a tie. This was last the case in 2015.
