Billot's striped fern ( Asplenium obovatum subsp. Billotii (FWSchultz) O.Bolòs & al. ) Is a subspecies of the plant species Asplenium obovatum Viv. from the genus of the striped ferns ( Asplenium ).
description
Billot's striped fern reaches heights of 15 to 30 centimeters. The fronds are double to triple pinnate. The frond outline is linear-lanceolate. At the bottom it is hardly or not at all narrowed. The petiole is shorter than the blade. The stalk and part of the underside of the rachis is brown. The lower pair of plumage protrudes at a right angle and is often shorter than the next one. The leaf leaflets are serrate.
The sori stand near the edge of the leaf. The spores ripen in July to September.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 144.
Occurrence
Billot's striped fern is common in Europe, North Africa and the Canary Islands . It has the eastern border of its distribution area in Central Europe and is very rare in Central Europe. It occurs here in Baden-Württemberg , Rhineland-Palatinate , Switzerland , Belgium , Alsace and Luxembourg . In Germany it is classified as extremely rare and particularly protected.
It grows on moist, shaded sandstone rocks of the montane altitude range . It is an association character type of the Crocynio-Asplenietum billotii and the Asplenietum septentrionali-adianti-nigri.
Taxonomy
The first description under the name ( Basionym ) Asplenium billotii F.W.Schultz was made in 1845 by Friedrich Wilhelm Schultz in the journal Flora (Regensburg) , volume 28, page 738. Oriol de Bolòs i Capdevila et al. established the clan as a subspecies to Asplenium obovatum Viv in 1990 . in Flora Manual dels Països Catalans , page 1213. The name billotii honors the Alsatian botanist Paul Constant Billot , a pedagogue in Haguenau . Other synonyms for Asplenium obovatum subsp. billotii (FWSchultz) O.Bolòs & al. are: Asplenium obovatum subsp. lanceolatum (Fiori) P. Silva , Asplenium lanceolatum Huds. non Forssk. 1775.
