Billy Toffel

Billy Toffel (* 19th June 1916 as André-Robert Toffel in Lausanne ; heimatberechtigt in La Roche FR and Pont-la-Ville FR ) is a Swiss jazz - and entertainment musician ( guitar , vocals , bass ) and actor.

Toffel was born in Lausanne as the son of Célestin Toffel and Blanche. Obergehsli was born. He first appeared in Paris as a singer-songwriter . He then sang in Ray Ventura's orchestra in the mid-1930s , before joining Teddy Stauffer and his original teddies from 1936, first in Berlin and then in Switzerland . Toffel can also be heard as a chorus singer on several recordings made between 1937 and 1939. a. with the Cole Porter tracks Who Knows? ( Telefunken A2534) and Ridin 'High (A2199) as well as Jeepers Creepers (A2896), Did I Remember (A2107), A Sailboat in the Moonlight (A2307), Slim Gaillards The Flat Foot Floogee (A2838) and the then popular song Goody Goody (A2027) by Matty Malneck and Johnny Mercer . Toffel also recorded with Coleman Hawkins (1936 accompanied by The Berries around Ernest Berner ), the orchestra of Paul Misraki ( Insensiblement , Polydor 560.005), Buddy Bertinat , Eddie Brunner , Bob Wagner and the Jerry Thomas Swingtet. From 1944 to 1946 he recorded several French vocal titles under his own name for Elite and Decca Records , such as Ma Sérénade or Hello, Baby, Mademoiselle , accompanied by Jack Trommer and His Orchestra and Tony Bell (Radio Geneve). In the field of jazz he was involved in 111 recording sessions between 1936 and 1949. Around 1947 he played the film song Tout le long des rues for Decca Records ; In 1948 he recorded the song Triste Serenade with Zarah Leander . In 1949 he performed at Cafe Wienecke in New York , and toured Europe in the mid-1960s. After emigrating to Mexico, he produced commercials, TV shows and records there. He is married and has three sons.
