Birgit Kipfer

Birgit Kipfer (born July 20, 1943 in Sankt Andreasberg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament from 1988 to 2009.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Bremen in 1962, Birgit Kipfer studied musicology , German and English until 1966 . From 1986 to 1988 she was an organizational advisor at the SPD Baden-Württemberg and from 1989 to 1999 deputy chairwoman of the Baden-Württemberg consumer advice service. Since 1999 she has been the state chairwoman of Pro Familia in Baden-Württemberg.

Kipfer is married and has three children.

politics

Kipfer joined the SPD in 1972. She was the local association chairwoman in Ehningen and later in Gärtringen. In 1976 she founded the working group of social democratic women. In 1979 she was elected to the district council of the Boeblingen district, to which she belonged until 1994. From 1980 to 1988 she was a member of the municipal council in Gärtringen . In 1988 she was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. She represented constituency 6 (Leonberg) there and was media and consumer policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group until she left the state parliament on December 31, 2009. From 1992 to 2001 she was also deputy group leader. Her successor for her mandate in the Leonberg constituency was the lawyer Tobias Brenner .

Volunteering

Birgit Kipfer was chairman of the parents' council at a Herrenberg grammar school. From 1980 to 1985 she worked as a youth lay judge at the regional court. From 1989 to 1999 she was a member of the board of directors of the consumer association Baden-Württemberg. From 1989 to 2011 she was an elected member of the broadcasting council of the Südwestrundfunk . For 12 years from 1999 to 2011 she was state chairwoman of Pro Familia . Kipfer was the spokeswoman for the Association Against Forgetting - For Democracy eV of the Böblingen / Herrenberg / Tübingen section. She is a member of the board of Against Forgetting - For Democracy and spokeswoman for the association's working groups in Baden-Württemberg. She has been chairwoman of the foundation “Learning Place Democracy - The GDR Museum Pforzheim” since 2012 . She is chairman of the association of friends and sponsors of the SWR vocal ensemble .

Consultancy

She is a member of the advisory board of the Hailfingen-Tailfingen Concentration Camp Memorial . and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the House of History of Baden-Wuerttemberg .

Honors

In 2015 Birgit Kipfer received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for her “extraordinary high level of cultural and social commitment” .
