from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Birgit Vogel-Heuser (born November 12, 1961 as Birgit Vogel, sometimes also known as Birgit Scherff) is a German computer scientist and professor for automation and information systems at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich .

Career

Vogel-Heuser completed her studies in electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University in 1987 as a Dipl.-Ing. and then worked as a doctoral student at the Research Institute for Rationalization in a joint project of the WZL machine tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University with Manfred Weck , process control in welding technology with Paul Drews and ergonomics with Rolf Hackstein and Mannesmann Demag . In 1991 she received a doctorate degree from RWTH Aachen with Rolf Hackstein on programming welding robots with voice input / output with “summa cum laude” as a Dr.-Ing. PhD.

From 1991 to 2000 Vogel-Heuser worked in industrial research and development at Siempelkamp and ATR Industrie-Elektronik. At the same time, she headed the chair for automation technology at the University of Hagen from 1996 to 1998 . In 2000, she was initially transferred to the interface division at Phoenix Contact , but in the same year she accepted a call to the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , where she headed the chair for automation technology and process informatics. In 2006 she moved to the University of Kassel , where she was appointed head of the Chair for Embedded Systems. In 2009 she followed a call to the Technical University of Munich, where she has since headed the Chair for Automation and Information Systems. Vogel-Heuser has held a visiting professorship in mechanical engineering at the NSF Industry / University Cooperative Research Center for Intelligent Maintenance Systems (IMS) at the University of Cincinnati since 2014 .

Her research focus is on the modeling of distributed embedded systems in automation technology and control-related reliability and usability as well as human-machine interaction in process engineering and process operation

From 2002 to 2009 Vogel-Heuser was editor -in- chief of the trade journal atp - Automatisierungstechnische Praxis .
