The diocese of Asansol ( lat. : Dioecesis Asansolensis ) is in West Bengal in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Asansol . It includes the Bardhaman District , and part of the Birbhum and Bankura Districts .

Pope John Paul II founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Pastorali quidem on October 24, 1997 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Calcutta , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
