The Diocese of Dumka ( lat. : Dioecesis Dumkaensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Dumka .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Malda with the Apostolic Constitution Tam opportunum on January 17, 1952 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Dinajpur . With the Apostolic Constitution Exsultat sancta Mater Ecclesia she was raised to the diocese on August 8, 1962.

On June 8, 1978 it lost part of its territory to the diocese of Raiganj . On June 27, 1998 it lost part of its territory to the diocese of Purnea .

The diocese Dumka includes the districts Dumka, Sahibganj, Pakur, Deoghar (only the Taluk Madhupur) in the state of Jharkhand , Purnea, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj in the state of Bihar and the Taluk Rampurhat in the district of Birbhum in the state of West Bengal .
