The Roman Catholic Diocese of Jericó ( Latin Dioecesis Iericoënsis , Spanish diócesis de Jericó ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Jericó .

history

A first diocese of Jericó was established on January 29, 1915 from parts of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Medellín . The then bishop of Antioquía, Maximiliano Crespo Rivera, acted as apostolic administrator of the diocese until it was united with the diocese of Antioquía to form the diocese of Antioquía-Jericó on February 5, 1917 .

Today's Diocese of Jericó was created on July 4, 1941 as a result of the division of the Diocese of Antioquía-Jericó and was again subordinated to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Medellín as a suffragan .
