José Roberto López Londoño (born June 30, 1937 in Yalí , † September 21, 2018 in Medellín ) was a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jericó .

Life

José Roberto López Londoño received after his theological and philosophical studies at the seminary in Medellín on 26 August 1962, the priestly ordination . At the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven he studied education and spirituality. He was prefect, teacher and rector of the Minor Seminary of Medellín, director of the Paul VI training house. and Seminary Spiritual .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Medellín and titular bishop of Urbs Salvia on May 24, 1982 . The Archbishop of Medellín, Alfonso López Trujillo , donated him episcopal ordination on July 3 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Hernando Velásquez Lotero , Bishop of Facatativá , and Rodrigo Arango Velásquez PSS , Auxiliary Bishop in Medellín. As a motto he chose Non ministrari sed ministrare .

On May 9, 1987, he was appointed Bishop of Armenia . On July 7th, 2003 he was appointed Bishop of Jericó by John Paul II.

On June 13, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
