The Diocese of Prince George ( Latin Dioecesis Principis Georgensis , English Diocese of Prince George ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Prince George in British Columbia in Canada .
The diocese was first founded on January 14, 1944 as the Apostolic Vicariate of Prince Rupert , as a split from the Whitehorse diocese and raised to an independent diocese on July 13, 1967, which was assigned to the Archdiocese of Vancouver as a suffragan .
Until 2012 all bishops belonged to the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary (OMI).
