The Diocese of Rio Gallegos ( lat. : Dioecesis Rivogallaecensis , span. : Diócesis de Río Gallegos ) is in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Rio Gallegos .
It was on April 10, 1961 by Pope John XXIII. built with the papal bull Ecclesiarum omnium from cessions of territory of the diocese Comodoro Rivadavia and subordinated to the archdiocese of Bahía Blanca as a suffragan diocese.
Within the diocese, which is a mission area of the Salesians of Don Bosco , who are still in charge of the diocese to this day, there are 14 branches of women's orders and 8 branches of various men's orders.
The cathedral is called Nuestra Señora de Luján.
