The Diocese of Rondonópolis-Guiratinga ( lat. : Dioecesis Rondonopolitana-Guiratingensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Rondonópolis in the state of Mato Grosso .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the territorial prelature Chapada on July 13, 1940 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Cuiabá , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.

On November 25, 1961, the Cathedra was moved from Chapada to Rondonópolis and took the name Territorial Prelature Rondonópolis. With the bull Laetantes omnino she was raised to the diocese on February 15, 1986. On December 23, 1997 it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Paranatinga Territorial Prelature .

As part of the reorganization of the church province of Cuiabá , the diocese was rewritten on June 25, 2014 and received parts of the repealed diocese of Guiratinga . The name was changed to the Diocese of Rondonópolis-Guiratinga.

The diocese of Rondonópolis comprises the parishes of Rondonópolis , Alto Araguaia , Alto Garças , Alto Taquari , Dom Aquino , Guiratinga Itiquira , Jaciara , Juscimeira , Pedra Preta , São José do Povo , São Pedro da Cipa and Tesouro of the state of Mato Grosso.
