The Diocese of Sonsonate ( Latin Dioecesis Sonsonatensis , Spanish diócesis de Sonsonate ) is in El Salvador situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Sonsonate . It includes the Department of Sonsonate .

history

Pope John Paul II founded it on May 31, 1986 from cession of territory by the diocese of Santa Ana and was subordinated to the archbishopric of San Salvador as a suffragan diocese.
