The diocese Tocantinópolis ( lat. : Dioecesis Tocantinopolitanus ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Tocantinópolis in the state of Tocantins .
history
The diocese Tocantinópolis was on December 20, 1954 by Pope Pius XII. established with the papal bull Ceu Pastor from cession of territory of the diocese of Porto Nacional as territorial prelature Tocantinópolis . The territorial prelature was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Goiás as a suffragan . On March 26, 1956, the territorial prelature Tocantinópolis was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Goiânia as a suffragan.
The territorial prelature Tocantinópolis was raised on October 30, 1980 to the diocese. On March 27, 1996, the diocese of Tocantinópolis was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Palmas as a suffragan.
