Bizunesh Deba

Bizunesh Deba (born September 8, 1987 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

In 2009 she finished seventh in the New York City Marathon and won the California International Marathon .

In 2010 she won the Naples Half Marathon, the National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer , the Healthy Kidney 10K and finished ninth in the New York Mini 10K . A victory at the Grandma's Marathon was followed by another at the Twin Cities Marathon , where she improved her personal record by more than four minutes and won by eight minutes. In 2011 she won the Los Angeles Marathon and the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego. At 2014 Boston Marathon Deba came in second. After Dopingdisqualifikation of Rita Jeptoo of victory, she was, however, subsequently granted.

Bizunesh Deba lives with her husband, fellow runner Worku Beyi, in New York City , Bronx .
