reception

USA Today's Brian Truitt says Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer's score is as important as Vangelis's to the previous film . In Musikexpress you can read that the soundtrack for Blade Runner 2049 is in no way inferior to its predecessor.

Tim Caspar Boehme from the taz, on the other hand, thinks that the solution that Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch have come up with for their film music is not really consistent: “The sailing synthesizers with which Vangelis gave the original a signature that set a precedent on their part will be quoted on occasion, otherwise aggressive scraping bass sounds or shrill musical threats dominate. You could have completely done without bowing to the past. "

Tobias Kniebe from the Süddeutsche Zeitung says about the soundtrack that it is full of rumbling thunder, electrostatic discharges and electronic whale chants that echo plaintively through distant, impenetrable gray layers of smog, whereby Vangelis is also conjured up here.

Success in the charts

On October 13, 2017, the UK soundtrack debuted at number 4 on the Soundtrack Albums Chart Top 50.
