Blanche Bingley

Blanche Bingley Hillyard (born November 3, 1863 as Blanche Bingley in Greenford , England , † August 6, 1946 in London ) was a British tennis player .

Career

From 1886 she won the women's singles title at Wimbledon six times. She lost five times in the final to Charlotte Dod .

In 1887 Bingley married the tennis player and later Olympic champion in men's doubles, George Hillyard , who was director of the tournament at Wimbledon from 1907 to 1914. She last appeared at Wimbledon in 1912 at the age of 48 and reached the semi-finals there.
