Grand Slams 1886

The tenth Wimbledon Championships took place on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road in 1886 . In the Challenge Round of the men about 3,500 spectators were again present.

Men's singles

As in the previous year, 23 players took part in the All Comer competition. In a third edition of the Challenge Round between William Renshaw and Herbert Lawford , Renshaw again clearly prevailed. He won the first set 6-0 in nine and a half minutes and celebrated his sixth title in a row.

Ladies singles

In the All-Comers contest eight players competed. The challenger Blanche Bingley won, somewhat surprisingly for the audience, the first women's Challenge Round against Maud Watson 6: 3 and 6: 3.

Men's doubles

With the final victory over Claude Farrer and Arthur Stanley in 6: 3, 6: 3, 4: 6 and 7: 5, the Renshaw brothers achieved their third double title in a row.
