The 22nd edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1898 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road. The field of participants in the All-Comers tournament consisted of 37 players for men and 16 for women.
Men's singles
In the Challenge Round , Reginald Doherty defeated his brother Laurence in five sets and won his second title.
Ladies singles
In the absence of last year's winner Blanche Bingley-Hillyard , Charlotte Cooper won her third title by winning the final of the All-Comers competition over Louisa Martin .
Men's doubles
The brothers Reginald and Laurence Doherty were able to prevail again in the Challenge Round . They won against Harold Nisbet and Clarence Hobart 6: 4, 6: 4 and 6: 2.
