The 47th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1927 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road.

This year a seeding list was introduced in all competitions, on the basis of which the tournament plans were drawn up. South African Billie Tapscott sparked a scandal when she played in an outdoor court with no stockings. For the first time the BBC radio broadcast games of the tournament.

Men's singles

In the final, Henri Cochet defeated his compatriot Jean Borotra . For the first time in Wimbledon history, no quarter-finalist came from Great Britain.

Ladies singles

In the women's category , Helen Wills won her first of eight Wimbledon singles titles until 1938. In the final, she defeated the Spaniard Lilí Álvarez in straight sets.

Men's doubles

The Americans Frank Hunter and Bill Tilden won the men's doubles .

Ladies doubles

Helen Wills and Elizabeth Ryan were successful in women's doubles .

Mixed

In the mixed final, Frank Hunter and Elizabeth Ryan defeated last year's winners Leslie Godfree and Kathleen McKane Godfree .
