The 63rd edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1949 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road.
In that year, the repairs to damage to the spectator area on Center Court, which came from the Second World War, were completed. Each title holder now received a replica of the winner's cup. For the first time a woman was a linesman on center court.
Men's singles
Ted Schroeder won the men's race .
Ladies singles
Louise Brough-Clapp defended her title. Against Margaret Osborne duPont , she prevailed in the final in three sets.
Men's doubles
Pancho Gonzales and Frank Parker won the men's doubles title.
Ladies doubles
In women's doubles, Louise Brough-Clapp and Margaret Osborne duPont won their third title in a row.
Mixed
The South Africans Sheila Summers and Eric Sturgess won the mixed competition .
