Grand Slams 1895

The 19th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1895 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road. Eighteen players registered for the men and nine for the women.

The Wimbledon Championships lost 33 pounds that year due to dwindling spectator interest  . For the first time, a royal visit was present with Princess Stephanie of Belgium .

Men's singles

In the men's category, Wilfred Baddeley was able to prevail in the All-Comers final against Wilberforce Vaughan Eaves , after Eaves had already led 2-0 sets and missed a match point in the third set. Last year's winner Joshua Pim did not defend his title.

Ladies singles

With their two-set victory in the Challenge Round about Helen Jackson won Charlotte Cooper her first Wimbledon title.

Men's doubles

The brothers Wilfred and Herbert Baddeley defended their title in the Challenge Round against Ernest Lewis and Wilberforce Vaughan Eaves 8: 6, 5: 7, 6: 4 and 6: 3.
