The 62nd edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1948 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road.
This year the junior competition for boys and girls was introduced. On the middle of Saturday, a new attendance record was set with around 33,000 visitors.
Men's singles
Bob Falkenburg , best known for his strong serve, won his only title. In the final he beat John Bromwich , where he had to fend off two match points .
Ladies singles
Louise Brough-Clapp prevailed among the women .
Men's doubles
The Australians John Bromwich and Frank Sedgman won the men's double final.
Bob Falkenburg and Jack Kramer won the men's doubles .
Ladies doubles
In the women's doubles, Louise Brough-Clapp and Margaret Osborne duPont won their second title after 1946.
Mixed
In mixed, Louise Brough-Clapp and John Bromwich defended the title.
