Doris Jane Hart (born June 20, 1925 in St. Louis , Missouri , † May 29, 2015 in Coral Gables , Florida ) was an American tennis player . Along with Margaret Smith Court and Martina Navrátilová , Hart is one of three players who have won every possible Grand Slam title at least once in singles, doubles and mixed .

Career

She won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 1949. In 1950 and 1952 she won the women's singles at the French Open , in 1951 she won at Wimbledon and at the US Open in 1954 and 1955.

In doubles she won, mostly with Shirley Fry , at Wimbledon four times (1947, 1951, 1952, 1953), at the French championships in 1948 and 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 and at the US championships in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1954. In Australia she won "only" in 1950.

She was also very successful in mixed and won a total of 11 titles in Grand Slam tournaments with Frank Sedgman and Vic Seixas .

In 1956 she ended her career. With 34 Grand Slam titles, she is one of the most successful players in tennis. Doris Hart died on May 29, 2015 at the age of 89 at her home in Coral Gables, Florida.
