The 77th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1963 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road.
This year the regulation was introduced that the players' clothing must be predominantly white. After it had rained all day on the second Saturday, the finals of all four competitions were played on the following Monday.
Men's singles
The American Chuck McKinley won the men’s race . He prevailed against Fred Stolle in three sets in the final and won his only title in a Grand Slam tournament.
Ladies singles
The Australian Margaret Smith won her first of three individual titles at Wimbledon. In total she won 24 singles titles in Grand Slam tournaments up to 1973, as well as 19 doubles titles.
Men's doubles
The men's doubles were won by the Mexicans Rafael Osuna and Antonio Palafox .
Ladies doubles
Maria Bueno and Darlene Hard were successful in women's doubles .
Mixed
Margaret Smith and Ken Fletcher won the mixed competition .
