The 60th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1946 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road.
At first it was uncertain whether the tournament could be restarted this year. The center court was badly damaged by a bomb that destroyed 1,200 seats. Food, clothing, and gasoline were also rationed. But in the end it was possible to set up a tournament with players from 23 countries.
No qualification was played this year.
Men's singles
The French Yvon Petra defeated Geoffrey Brown in five sets in the final . Petra competed as the last Wimbledon winner in long pants.
Ladies singles
Pauline Betz won the women’s race .
Men's doubles
Tom Brown and Jack Kramer prevailed in the men's doubles .
Ladies doubles
In the women's doubles, Louise Brough and Margaret Osborne won the title.
Mixed
In mixed, Louise Brough and Tom Brown won .
