Herbert Baddeley (born January 11, 1872 in Bromley , London , England , † July 20, 1931 in Cannes , France ) was an English tennis and badminton player .

Career

Baddeley, the younger twin brother of Wilfred Baddeley and son of a solicitor , was born in Bromley , London in 1872 . From 1887 to 1897 he competed in tennis tournaments. Together with his brother Wilfred , he formed the most successful double of the 1890s. The two of them won the doubles competition at Wimbledon four times during this time. In the singles Herbert was able to advance to the semi-finals in 1895, but there gave his brother Wilfred a walkover , who then won the title. The following year he was defeated in the semifinals Wilberforce Vaughan Eaves .

His daughter Violet Baddeley was also a successful badminton player.

He died in Cannes, France, in 1931, two years after his brother, at the age of 59.
