Child of mine is a 2005 thriller produced for British television. It premiered on November 13, 2005 in the UK.

Since the London couple Tess and Alfie Palmer cannot have children of their own , they adopt two orphaned girls from a Canadian recruitment agency that is not recognized by the state. The children's mother was murdered; it happened two years ago. The 4-year-old Grace looks carefree, bright and fun-loving, the 10-year-old Heather, on the other hand, looks rather depressed and serious. In the further course she turns out to be headstrong and even violent. But adoptive mother Tess does not despair, after all, she is a child psychologist. Heather seems to have a secret. Therapy discussions with a colleague bring no progress, so she decides to undertake a daring undertaking. A return to the crime scene is set to get Heather talking. Tess really wants to know the truth. She now thinks Heather is her own mother's murderer.
Tess travels to Canada with Heather. Just staying in her dead mother's empty house is very uncomfortable for Heather. Nevertheless, she begins to describe the course of events with tears to Tess. She rejects any guilt. She only noticed the silhouette of the perpetrator .
During the subsequent short visit to the adoption agency, Heather recognizes the perpetrator with a gesture. It is the owner of the agency (Alvin). Meanwhile, Tess is rummaging through files lying around in an unattended moment. Amazingly, every file contains the note that the parents of the child in question are dead. Tess gets suspicious. When the local sheriff who was summoned by Tess arrives, Alvin shoots him. He would also like to kill Tess and Heather as witnesses. But Tess shows herself to be defensive. With the gun of the killed sheriff she injures Alvin life-threateningly and puts him out of action. Tess and Heather can escape.
