Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session was a concert by Carl Perkins and other top-class musicians, which was recorded for television on October 21, 1985 in front of an audience at Limehouse Studios in London, England.

Rock 'n' roll pioneer Carl Perkins performed in the company of friends and colleagues such as the former Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr or the Stray-Cats members Slim Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker . Dave Edmunds was the musical director, co-produced and accompanied Perkins with his band. Apart from the title What Kind of a Girl by Rosanne Cash , the concert consisted of classic rockabilly songs that Perkins had either written himself or interpreted in the past.

The concert special aired on New Years Eve 1985 in the UK on Channel 4 and in the US in 1986 on Cinemax, with featured commentary from Johnny Cash , Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis .

Perkins played ten songs on stage with a changing line-up, followed by an instrumental piece in a guitar duel with Harrison. Then everyone involved entered the stage and played a medley. Four more songs follow, Blue Suede Shoes was played again as an encore . Some sources give the title Gone Gone Gone as the 18th title or the second encore . However, this piece is only played back from the tape during the credits.

Rehearsals took place over two days in September 1985 at Nomis Studios in London. Ringo Starr was only present on one day, Eric Clapton did not take part in the rehearsals at all because of his Japan tour.

This was George Harrison's first appearance in over ten years.
