reception

Director Lance Edmands and producer Kyle Martin will answer questions after the main filming on May 4, 2013

David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter called the film "a quiet influencing indie drama that will probably win admirers".

Indiewire's Rodrigo Perez stated that in Bluebird Edmands “ eschewed all levels of melodrama and sentimentality”, and that the film was nonetheless “more compelling and emotional” than almost any other drama that [he] “saw this year, albeit in a calm way ”.

Francisco Salazar wrote in Latinos Post that the "tonal congruence of the film and the first-class performances will surely receive a response".

Stephen Holden, New York Times , praised Amy Morton's exceptional performance, saying "you try a little too hard to create an atmosphere".

Kate Erbland of Film School Rejects says that "Lance Edmands' Bluebird will probably have to grapple with comparisons to Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Beyond because of the similar theme, " but goes on to say that "the most remarkable thing about Bluebird is its consistently consistent acting performance often achieved greatness ”.

Peter Debruge from Variety calls the film "a sad return to a rather poetic time", but says that "Edmands travel at too steady a pace through the lives of the various characters portrayed".
