Bob Minkler
Robert Alan Minkler (born August 31, 1937 in Glendale , California - † October 11, 2015 in Oregon ) was an American sound engineer .
Life
Minkler began his career in the film business in the early 1970s. His first film as a sound engineer was the drama Five Easy Pieces by Bob Rafelson in 1970. In 1978 he and Don MacDougall , Ray West and Derek Ball received the Oscar for Best Sound for Star Wars . Minkler also won the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category for Star Wars in 1979 . In 1983 he was nominated for a second and final Oscar in the Best Sound category for Tron . After the production of the Emmy- winning television film Lady Against the Odds in 1992, no further work in the film and television business followed.
Minkler died in October 2015. He left behind his wife and three children.
