main characters

Robert "Bob" Morane

Bob Morane is French, a time patrol agent and occasionally works for the newspaper Reflets . He is an engineer and was a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force during World War II . He has mastered several martial arts and languages. Bob usually wears a distinctive red jacket.

William "Bill" Ballantine

He was Bob Morane's aircraft mechanic during the war and has been at his side on his adventures ever since. Ballantine almost always calls Bob "Commander". He is from Scotland and has a penchant for Scottish whiskey . His physical strength makes him the perfect support for Bob. Ballantine also has a constant appetite and is more impulsive in character than Bob

Sophia Paramount

Paramount is a reporter from the UK . During her research, she often puts herself in danger and needs Morane's help, but also accompanies him on his adventures. She often carries a camera with her.

Professor Aristide Clairembart

Professor Clairembart is an archaeologist and good friend of Bob, Bill and Sophia. He helps them on many of their adventures. At the beginning of the series, he is targeted by Ming because he is in possession of a document containing references to the legendary Crown of Golconda, which is said to have belonged to the Mongol ruler Genghis Khan .

Tania Orloff

Tania is the niece of the "Yellow Shadow", Ming. In contrast to her uncle, she is not angry, but regularly supports Bob and his friends when they are ambushed by Ming and his henchmen. Ming looks after this behavior or partially ignores it.

Antagonists

Ming (The Yellow Shadow)

He is one of Bob Morane's greatest enemies, but also his greatest admirer. Ming is physically far superior to Bob, and the significantly stronger Bill is no match for Ming's strength. Ming was rescued by Bob once and has tried again and again to win Morane over to his cause. Even if this doesn't work, Ming no longer wants to kill him directly. Ming once presented Bob with a yellow face-shaped pendant that saved Bob's life when Ming attempted an attempt to kill Bob. In addition, it is apparently immortal, as it is cloned again using genetic engineering after its death . He has a large number of different servants, including metal figures with cloaks that shoot lasers from their eyes, and a race of white mummies who have no will of their own and are ready to kill and die for Ming. Also, one of his two hands is made of metal, as Ming lost his real hand in the first episode. He can remove it and control it remotely, as well as shoot his index finger as a poison sting. Ming says of himself to be a descendant of Genghis Khan. He often refers to Asian wisdom from Buddhism , but also quotes Chinese politicians like Mao Zedong . In the first episode, Professor Clairembart describes Ming as an ominous personality who is feared throughout Asia and who is said to be the devil in person . He has a niece named Tania Orloff, who is on Bob's side.

Miss Ylang-Ylang

She is the head of the international criminal syndicate SMOG and, like Bob Morane, masters several martial arts. She has an Asian background and is very arrogant . Her red lips, distinctive perfume and her fondness for cigarette holders make her a femme fatale . Thanks to her excellent karate skills, she can also stand up to Bob Morane in physical disputes. She even throws Bill Ballantine, who is physically much stronger, over her shoulder with ease. In the episode Seeing Atlantis and Die , Morane managed to overwhelm her. Ylang-ylang appears to have a tendency towards Morane, which is partly expressed through her physical innuendos. But she repeatedly complains that she and Bob are fighting on different sides.

Roman orgone network

Orgonetz is a mercenary who works for the organization SMOG and is subordinate to Miss Ylang-Ylang. Its special features are its golden teeth, its large, pointed nose and its small but powerful physique. Orgonetz is ruthless, brutal and strong, but has a rather low intelligence.

Dr. Nicolas Anathase Xathan

Xathan is a criminal scientist who describes himself as the "Master of Light" and seeks world domination. He appears independently of Ming and Miss Ylang-Ylang as the third main antagonist of the series. Xathan considers himself to be the rebirth of the sun god Ra . In episode 21, Xathan actually died, but returned as a hologram in episode 25. Xathan is often supported by three brothers who are not particularly intelligent, but very strong and often heavily armed.

Colonel Staggart

Staggart is a former military colonel and adversary of Bob Morane. He has various deceptively real face masks that disguise his identity. His trademarks also include a metal cap that he wears on his ring finger and two different eye colors. Staggart's character and leadership style are based on fascism .
