Bogdan Stanisław Daras (born April 27, 1960 in Piotrków Trybunalski ) is a former Polish wrestler .

Career

Bogdan Daras started wrestling in his birthplace in 1971. He was a member of his club there until 1979. Then he moved to Siła Mysłowice. There he wrestled until 1988. After he had outgrown adolescence, Bogdan weighed about 85 kg with a height of 1.81 m and mostly started in the middleweight division. The coaches to whom he owed the most on his way to the top of the world in Greco-Roman style were Jan Adamaszek, Jan Stawowski and Stanisław Krzesiński.

1984 Bogdan was first Polish champion and used at the European championships of the same year in Jönköping in the light heavyweight division. There he still had to pay tuition and was defeated in his two fights by the Greek Pozidis and the multiple world champion Igor Kanygin from the Soviet Union . He then took 7th place in his “A” pool and 13th place overall.

In 1985 he showed great progress. First it was enough at the European Middleweight Championships in Leipzig already to 4th place, where he was defeated in the battle for the bronze medal to the Romanian Sorin Herțea , and then at the World Championships in Kolbotn / Norway to come to the first major success of his career. He defeated the Soviet representative Abdul Batalow on points in the final and became world champion.

The year 1986 was also very successful for him. In the spring he became vice European champion in Athens . Only Tibor Komáromi from Hungary defeated him. In the autumn of the same year Bogdan fought again at the World Championships in Budapest against Komáromi for the gold medal. Both wrestlers failed to score, whereupon both were disqualified after 4.58 minutes of fighting time and placed in 2nd place. The next year the intern. In the next year it was enough for Bogdan Daras at the European Championships in Tampere again to the vice European title. In the final he was defeated by Sergei Nassewitsch from the USSR on points. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 Bogdan came to the conclusion of his international career as a wrestler on the 8th place in the middleweight division. He won against Ernesto Razzino, Italy and U. Rodríguez from Puerto Rico and lost to Mikhail Mamiaschwili from the USSR and Goran Kasum from Yugoslavia and in the fight for 7th place to the American John Morgan with 7: 8 points.

Bogdan Daras then ended his international career and went to the Federal Republic of Germany . For many years he fought for VfK Schifferstadt in the 1st Bundesliga. He has been working as a trainer at KSG Ludwigshafen for a number of years , for which he is still on the mat. In the 2006 season he led the KSG season to the championship title in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz and thus to promotion to the regional league.
