from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Siegfried Seibold (born August 12, 1959 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a former German wrestler . He was German middleweight champion in 1983 and 1986 in the Greco-Roman style.

Career

Siegfried Seibold began wrestling as a teenager. He belonged to the AC Bad Reichenhall and wrestled exclusively in the Greco-Roman style. At a height of 1.80 meters, he was initially welterweight, but soon grew into middleweight.

In 1977 he was German A youth champion (intern. Designation "Juniors") in welterweight and 1979 German junior champion (Espoirs) in middleweight. In 1980 he started for the first time in a German senior championship, but still had to bow to veterans Kurt Spaniol from Köllerbach and Hans-Joachim Klötzing from KSV Witten 07 in the middleweight division . In the same year he was used at the championship of the European Community in Sønderborg / Denmark and surprisingly won the title there ahead of Klaus Mysen from Norway and Kaj Jägersgaard from Denmark.

In 1982 he finished 2nd behind Kurt Spaniol at the German championship . At the championship of the European Union in Bazel-Kruibeke / Belgium he took 2nd place this year behind Dimitrios Thanopoulos from Greece . In 1983 Siegfried Seibold won his first German senior title. He won the middleweight division in front of Kurt Spaniol and Lothar Ruch from TuS Aldenhoven . He then started at the World Cup in Kiev in 1983 and finished there with a victory over Anton Marchl from Austria , a bye and defeat against Jarmo Övermark from Finland and Taimuras Abchasawa from the USSR a good 6th place.

In 1984 Siegfried Seibold was German middleweight runner-up behind Lothar Ruch, but was nominated by the German Wrestling Association for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . There he came to a victory over Anton Marchl, but lost to Momir Petkovic from Yugoslavia and Dimitrios Thanopoulos and ended up in 9th place.

In 1985 the middleweight class at the German championships was extremely strong. Siegfried Seibold therefore only managed to place 5th behind the silver medal winner of the 1980 Olympic Games and Vice World and Vice European Champion Jan Dolgowics , Aalen , Andreas Steinbach , Lahr -Kuhbach, Hans-Hermann Strauss , Aalen and Lothar Ruch to prove. He was still at the start at the 1985 World Championships in Kolbotn / Norway , but lost there against Klaus Mysen and Jarmo Övermark and was unable to place.

In 1986 he won his second German middleweight championship in front of Frank Less from Witten, Roger Gössner from KSV Wiesental and Andreas Steinbach . At the European Championships in 1986 in Athens , however, he fared like the 1985 World Championships. He lost both fights that he had to contest. Ernesto Razzino from Italy and the reigning world champion Bogdan Daras from Poland were the wrestlers who defeated him just by points.

In the period that followed, Siegfried Seibold did not start at any international championships. He finished but in 1987 and 1988 at the German championships yet each the 3rd place in the middleweight division in 1987 behind Roger Gössner , the same year Vice World Champion was and Hans-Hermann Strauss and 1988 behind Roger Gössner and Thomas Zander from KSV Aalen, the future world and European champions.

Siegfried Seibold competed very successfully in the German Bundesliga for his club, AC Bad Reichenhall and later for SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos until 1995. Then he worked in the Bavarian region as a coach at various clubs. At the moment (2010/11 season) he is the head coach of the Bundesliga club SV Wacker Burghausen .
