Bogdan Zalewski (born April 9, 1981 in Płock , Poland ) is a former Polish rower .

Career

Zalewski began rowing in 1997. He gained his first international experience at the junior world championships in the following year, where he finished 10th with the Polish U19 eighth. As an 18-year-old he was able to compete in the rowing world cup for the first time , he was used as a lightweight in eighth in Hazewinkel , Belgium , and promptly won a silver medal. In the same year he won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Plovdiv in the Polish junior eighth in the open weight class. After reaching the senior age class, Zalewski rowed eighth at the U23 World Championships in 2000 and 2001 and won a bronze medal at the second participation in Linz.

In the 2002 season, Zalewski was able to establish himself as a fixture in the Polish men's eight. In the Olympic cycle of Athens he took part several times in the World Cup and in the World Championships in Seville in 2002 and in Milan in 2003 . The team reached the B final in each of the championships. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Zalewski also rowed in the Polish eighth with Mikołaj Burda , Piotr Buchalski , Rafał Hejmej , Dariusz Nowak , Wojciech Gutorski , Sebastian Kosiorek , Michał Stawowski and helmsman Daniel Trojanowski . The team could not reach the final and finished 8th overall.

In the four years before the Beijing Games, the Polish eighth with Zalewski was able to place twice in the A-final of the World Championships. At the World Championships in Japan in 2005 he took 5th place, the following year at the Rowing World Championships in Eton 6th. In the 2007 season, Zalewski was not at the start at the World Championships in Munich, but he was back in the reintroduced European Championships in Poznan the Team. The Polish eighth achieved his first podium finish by winning the silver medal, Zalewski won his only international medal in the open age group here. In the 2008 Olympic season he was used twice at the World Cup, but then not taken into account for the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. He then ended his active career as a rower.

Zalewski started for the Płockie TW association . At a height of 1.86 m, his competition weight was around 84 kg.
