Piotr Buchalski (born March 4, 1981 in Płock , Poland ) is a former Polish rower .

Career

Buchalski began rowing in 1997. He gained his first international experience at the junior world championships the year after, where he finished 10th with the Polish U19 eighth. As an 18-year-old he was able to compete in the rowing world cup for the first time , he was used as a lightweight in eighth in Hazewinkel , Belgium , and promptly won a silver medal. In the same year he won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Plovdiv in the Polish junior eighth in the open weight class. After reaching the senior age class, Buchalski rowed eighth at the U23 World Championships in 2000 and finished fifth in the A final.

After a season without participation in international regattas, Buchalski was able to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the Polish men's eight in 2002. In the Olympic cycle of Athens he took part several times in the World Cup as well as the World Championships in Seville in 2002 and in Milan in 2003 . The team reached the B final in each of the championships. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Buchalski also rowed in the Polish eighth with Mikołaj Burda , Bogdan Zalewski , Rafał Hejmej , Dariusz Nowak , Wojciech Gutorski , Sebastian Kosiorek , Michał Stawowski and helmsman Daniel Trojanowski . The team could not reach the final and finished 8th overall.

In the four years before the Beijing Games, the Polish eighth with Buchalski was able to regularly place in the A-final of the World Championships. At the 2005 World Championships in Japan 5th place was occupied, the following year at the World Rowing Championships in Eton 6th place in Munich in 2007 was followed by another fifth place and the silver medal in the reimported European Championships in the home poses succeeded Buchalski and the Polish aft the first Podium placement. In the 2008 Olympic season he was used three times at the World Cup, but then not taken into account for the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Buchalski started for the Płockie TW association . With a height of 1.91 m, his competition weight was around 85 kg.
