Every baranggay in Bongabon has its own fiesta . The Sibuyasan Onion Festival , celebrated all over Bongabon, takes place annually in the first and second week of April.

Missionaries of the Augustinian Order in Pampanga to Catholicism preached their outpost widened in the area of the present province of Nueva Ecija by the river Pampanga followed. In 1659 Santol (today's Baranggay Santor) was founded. In 1760 Bongabon became an independent town and church community and Francis of Assisi was declared a local saint.
Bongabon was the first capital of the Nueva Ecija province.
