Science City of Muñoz ( Tagalog : Lungsod ng Muñoz) is a Filipino municipality (Component City) in the province of Nueva Ecija , in the administrative region III, Central Luzon. It has 81,483 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 37 barangays . It is classified as a third income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
Science City of Muñoz is located in the north of the province, on the southern foothills of the Caraballo Mountains , in the northeast of the Central Luzon Plain. It is 147 km north of Manila and is accessible via the Marhalika Highway . Its neighboring communities are Guimba in the west, Talugtug in the north, Lupao in the northeast, Talavera in the southeast, Santo Domingo in the south, and San Jose City in the east.
Muñoz was given the name Science City because the government established five scientific institutes in the community. These are attached to Central Luzon State University , which operates a 6.58 km² area in the community. The university is an internationally renowned research institute in the fields of agriculture and forestry . It is one of the three central universities in the Philippines in both research and training areas; the other two are Visayas State University (CLSU) on Leyte and Central Mindanao University (CMU) on Mindanao .
