San Jose City ( Tagalog : Lungsod ng San Jose) is a Filipino Component City in the province of Nueva Ecija , in the administrative region III, Central Luzon. It has 139,738 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 38 barangays . It is classified as a third income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
San Jose City is the northernmost Component City in the province and it is located on the southern foothills of the Caraballo Mountains , in the northeast of the Central Luzon Plain. Its neighboring communities are Science City of Muñoz in the west, Lupao in the northwest, Talavera in the southwest, Llanera in the south, Rizal in the southeast, Pantabangan in the east and Carranglan in the north.
A Laboratory High School of Central Luzon State University is located in Barangay Pinili .
