history

Rugby has a long tradition in the Scottish Borders , with the Border League being the premier league of the sport in the world. When the Heineken Cup was launched, the Scottish Federation tried to put together regional teams to compete with the top clubs from England, France, Ireland and Wales. The Scottish Borders were part of these considerations, but were merged a little later due to financial difficulties with the club from Edinburgh to the "Edinburgh Reivers". In 2002 the team was set up again as an independent team and entered the Celtic League as "The Borders".

On March 27, 2007, the Scottish Association announced the dissolution of the Reivers to save costs. With the end of the club, many players moved to the Glasgow Warriors , one of the two remaining professional clubs in Scotland. As a result of the association's decision, an initiative to rebuild a team in the region has emerged; a project that has not yet been successful.
