Boresch IX. von Riesenburg the Younger (also iunior , der iuengere ; Czech Boreš IX. mladší ; † 1403 ) was a Bohemian nobleman from the Riesenburg family .

Life

Together with his brother Boresch VII von Riesenburg d. Ä. took over Boresch d. J. the inheritance of her father Boresch V. von Riesenburg and Beschau . In 1387 he appeared as a member of the regional court. In the same year, both brothers gave the town of Bečov city rights.

In 1394, Margrave Jobst of Moravia invited leading members of the Bohemian nobility to Prague , including Henry III. von Rosenberg , Heinrich III. von Neuhaus , Brenek von Fels and Schwihau , Otto von Berg , Heinrich Berka von Duba auf Hohenstein , Wilhelm von Landstein from Lipnitz († 1398), Jan Michalec from Michalovice from Mladá Boleslav , Boček II. from Podiebrad and Boresch IX. d. J. von Riesenburg. On May 5, 1394, they published a declaration of joint action for the benefit of the Czech people against King Wenceslaus . In April, Boresch and Bohuslav von Schwanberg attacked Toužim Castle with other sovereigns and arrested Provost Georg, who was then held at the Riesenburg Castle. The king then ordered the Prague burgrave Otto von Berg to assemble an army and punish the rebels. However, Otto and the soldiers did not move against the rebels, but against the king. While returning from his Žebrák Castle , Wenceslaus was captured and imprisoned in the White Tower of Prague Castle .

Wenceslaus was forced to appoint his cousin, the Marquis Jobst, captain of the Kingdom of Bohemia. Other Bohemian nobles joined him, including Boresch. On the side of the king, his younger brother, Duke Johann von Görlitz , fought an army in Kuttenberg . The rebels then withdrew to South Bohemia with the captured king. In the war that followed between the two camps, Duke Johann had the Rosenbergs' lands plundered and occupied Budweis . After the peace agreement of June 30, 1394, King Wenceslas was released.

The peace did not last long and at the end of 1394 the sovereigns gathered again, this time in Alttabor . Margrave Jobst received support from Meissen Margrave Wilhelm and Johann von Görlitz, who was disappointed in negotiations with his brother. The new coalition, which Boresch VII. D. Ä. participated, met with the king at his castle Žebrák. The nobles demanded all important offices for themselves in order to control and administer the country. This peace agreement did not last long either. Wenceslaus imprisoned Marquis Jobst and Boček II of Podebrady . Against other nobles, including the giant burgers, an army should be set up, whose leadership Bořivoj von Svinaře ( Bořivoj z Svinař ) should take over.

In 1395 Margrave Jobst was dismissed and allowed to negotiate, but at the expense of Duke Johann von Görlitz. In 1396 Wenzel tried to get the situation under control again and asked his brother Sigismund for help. Through its negotiations, another peace was concluded on April 2, 1396, again in favor of the Bohemian rulers. Boresch was then appointed to the court.

In order to pay off his debts, Boresch IX sold. 1398 the family property, the Riesenburg Castle and the city of Dux as well as 25 other lands to the Meissen margrave Wilhelm. However, since Wilhelm could not raise the required amount in full, he left the Leisnig Castle in Meissen to Boresch as a pledge .

In the following years, Boresch finally concentrated on the administration of his remaining possessions in western Bohemia. King Sigismund is said to have left him with the income from the city of Taus . This indicates that he was one of the supporters of the new king and probably had already supported him financially. He was last mentioned in a document in 1403. After his death, not only within the family but also by other noblemen were fought for his inheritance and that of his brother.

His wife Anna von Kolditz held Buchau for some time , but later joined the Duchess Elisabeth von Görlitz, a daughter of the late Johann von Görlitz, as a kitchen manager ( magistra coquine ) .
