The Borlasbach (formerly in the upper reaches of the Seifenbach ) is a left tributary of the Rote Weißeritz in the Saxon Eastern Ore Mountains .
course
It has its origin at the foot of the Paulsdorfer Heide near Paulshain , after which it flows north through Borlas and past Lübau , where the water flows orographically to the left into the Rote Weißeritz.
The Borlasbach has a very asymmetrical valley shape in the upper and middle reaches. The right side with its steep slopes is mostly forested, while the flatter left side is used for agriculture. In the lower reaches, from Lübau to the confluence with the Rote Weißeritz, the stream forms a narrow gorge up to 40 meters deep on the left side of the Rabenauer Grund . There were several small ponds in the upper reaches.
particularities
The occurrence of soap gold in the Borlasbach near Paulshain is remarkable , which is present in the gravel of the Niederschöna formation, no longer visible paleo soils under the ashlar sandstone deposits of the Paulsdorfer and Höckendorfer Heide and is washed out with the water at the base of the sandstone layers in insignificant quantities. Gold production through mining soap work is on record from 1560, but only once documented. Due to the small quantities, mining only took place for a short time and probably only in the summer months.
