Born Rich is an American documentary film by Jamie Johnson from the year 2003 , that of HBO was purchased. The film has been described as a “documentary about children of the enormously rich”, “captured by one of their own”.

The documentary consists mainly of interviews that Johnson freely conducts with his friends. Experiences are discussed - what it is like to be born rich and lead a life without financial limits.

The film was produced by Johnson's uncle, screenwriter and novelist Dirk Wittenborn , who encouraged Johnson to make the documentary. The film premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival . In October 2003, HBO first aired it on television.
Actor Luke Weil tried to prevent publication by filing a lawsuit because he was allegedly "tricked". He was told the film was for a school project and not for commercial production. The other parties involved were also betrayed, but Johnson denied everything. A New York court dismissed the lawsuit in October 2002 because everyone involved signed a commercial production contract.

In the Internet Movie Database , the film got a rating of 6.5 out of 10 in over 1,350 votes. At Rotten Tomatoes , viewers received 56% positive reviews.
Awards
The film was nominated for an Emmy in the categories Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming ( Jamie Johnson ) and Outstanding Nonfiction Special ( Sheila Nevins ( Executive Producer ), Dirk Wittenborn and Jamie Johnson) .
