Boric acid triisopropyl ester is a chemical compound from the group of borates .

Extraction and presentation

The compound can be obtained by reacting isopropyl alcohol with boron trioxide or reacting boric acid with isopropyl alcohol and thionyl chloride .

properties

Boric acid triisopropyl ester is a colorless liquid that is miscible with ether , ethanol , isopropanol and benzene .

use

Triisopropyl borate is used as a reagent in the palladium- catalyzed coupling reaction with aryl halides such as the Suzuki reaction (for example in the production of losartan ). It is also used as a reagent for the production of boric acids and esters, as a Lewis acid catalyst and in the orthoborylation of 1-substituted naphthalenes . In addition, it plays a role as a catalyst in the manufacture of resins, waxes, paints and varnishes.
