The Bosch Rexroth AG is a German industrial company in the field of drive and control technology (slogan: The Drive & Control Company), headquartered in Stuttgart and headquarters in Lohr am Main . It was created on May 1, 2001 through the merger of Mannesmann Rexroth AG with the Bosch automation technology division and has been a 100 percent subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH ever since .

The technology fields are electrical drives and controls , hydraulics with industrial hydraulics and mobile hydraulics , linear and assembly technology (until mid-2013 also pneumatics ) and services. history
In 1795 the Rexroth family from the Spessart in the Elsava valley acquired the "Höllenhammer", a water-powered hammer forge . In 1850, the Stein'sche Eisengießerei in Lohr am Main was acquired in order to connect to inland shipping on the Main and the railroad (from 1854). In 1930 the company developed a new cupola furnace and manufactured special castings of outstanding quality .
After the end of the Second World War, production with saucepans, pans and irons, and later meat processing machines, was restarted in 1945. In 1952 the production of standardized hydraulic components started. In 1965 Indramat GmbH in Lohr was taken over. The product range was expanded to include electrical control technology. In 1968 Mannesmann joined Rexroth with participation. In 1972, the Hydromatik GmbH in Elchingen , a manufacturer of axial piston pumps and - motors , acquired. In 1976 Rexroth became a 100 percent subsidiary of Mannesmann AG. In the same year, the takeover of Brueninghaus GmbH in Horb am Neckar , a producer of axial piston pumps and axial piston motors. One year later, in 1977, Lohmann & Stolterfoht GmbH in Witten , a manufacturer of gear and clutch technology , was acquired.
In 1987, Deutsche Star GmbH in Schweinfurt , a manufacturer of linear technology, was taken over . In 1989 the company was expanded by Rexroth Pneumatik GmbH in Hanover to include the pneumatics division. In 1998 Mannesmann Rexroth GmbH was converted into a stock corporation. In 2000, REFU elektronik GmbH in Metzingen , a manufacturer of frequency converters and solar inverters, was acquired. In 2001, automation technology was spun off from Robert Bosch GmbH and merged with Mannesmann Rexroth AG to form the new company Bosch Rexroth AG. In 2005 the robot division was sold to Stäubli International . In 2008, the takeover of Interlit GmbH in Cologne, a manufacturer of cooling lubricant filters , took place. In 2008, the two service organizations Mobile Hydraulics (SVM) and Industrial Hydraulics (SVI) merged to form the new Service Hydraulics (SVH) product group. In September 2013 Bosch Rexroth sold the pneumatics division to the financial investor Triton . The company name was changed to Aventics in April 2014 .
In 2013 Bosch Rexroth received the Hermes Award for the Open Core Engineering project.
