history

State division of the Altenburger Land until 1920

The village of Bosengröba was first mentioned in a document on January 22, 1344. Bosengröba is one of the few places in today's Altenburger Land district that historically did not belong to Saxony-Altenburg . In the 16th century the place fell into desolation, in 1834 44 people lived here. Together with its neighboring town of Ruppersdorf, Bosengröba formed the southwestern tip of the Electoral Saxon or royal Saxon district of Borna , which protruded into the Altenburger Land. From 1856 the place belonged to the Borna court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration . With the district reform in the GDR, the place was initially assigned to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952 .

Agriculture and lignite mining shaped the dead end village for a long time. Lignite mining did not begin in the immediate vicinity until the middle of the 20th century. The Ruppersdorf opencast mine , which was opened in 1944 in the north of the town, was in operation until 1957. Most of Ruppersdorf had to give way to him, to which Bosengröba, which was spared, belonged as a district at the time. With the incorporation of Ruppersdorf to Wintersdorf on January 1, 1957, Bosengröba became a district of Wintersdorf. This resulted in the Altenburg district , whose area has belonged to Thuringia again since 1990. With Wintersdorf, Bosengröba was assigned to the Altenburger Land district in 1994. With the incorporation of Wintersdorf to Meuselwitz , Bosengröba has been a part of the Wintersdorf district of the city of Meuselwitz since 2007.
