Bosilegrad ( Serbian - Cyrillic Босилеград ) is a small Serbian town and municipality of the same name. It is located in the extreme south-east of Serbia on the border with Bulgaria and, along with Dimitrovgrad, is a center of the Bulgarian minority in Serbia .

Bosilegrad is located in south-east Serbia on the border with Bulgaria. The Serbian-Bulgarian border crossing Oltomanzi is located around 13 km southeast and the border crossing Strsimirowzi about 55 km northeast of the city. The closest major city is the Bulgarian Kyustendil .

history

After the First World War , Bosilegrad, along with other areas in western Bulgaria, was ceded by Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia ( Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine , 1919). Bosilegrad is surrounded by mountains that reach heights over 1,800 m.

Mayor of Bosilegrad is Vladimir Zaharijev (since 2009), a politician from the Democratska stranka Srbije party .
